Phuket (Thailand day 7 & 8)

I’m up at 7am, packed, showered and ready to go. TODAY WE TRAVEL TO PHUKET! The airport is about an hour away from the airbnb but the way these Thai taxi drivers are I’ll make it in 40. Morning traffic is heavy but as long as I’m to the airport an hour before my 11am flight I should be good.
I make it to the airport just in time. Check-in for a domestic flight is fairly quick with no complications. The flight wait is short and honestly the less time spent inside a crowded airport is always a plus for me.
One crowded shuttle bus ride that takes you straight to the airplane and everyone gets situated. Flight time is only an hour (thank goodness) and the best part is I’m off to paradise. Moving from the island to America means you know the true definition of a beach and usually avoid going to any within the US. However with a little research and the admirable instagram, craving beach time is this new country is inevitable. I’m ready for the sun sand and sea.

Off the plane you get a swift breeze of hot air, PERFECT! The hotter the better. The venture from the airport to the hotel is agitating. A combination of excitement and cabin fever and this two hour drive in a mini van with strangers is sending me up a wall.
As you approach Patong beach you start to realize it’s tourist central. It truly reminded me of Miami during spring break. The sent of salt water hitting my nostrils and ocean breeze bracing my face is comforting.
I arrive at the hotel in the early evening, just enough time for a quick walk on the beach and some good food!

Phuket (Thailand day 8)

These blog entries are fairly short due to the fact that I’m here to relax. No cares, no worries, just a good tan and great food!
I start my day off early, I’m trying to catch as much beach time as possible. Fresh fruit and a chill smoothie for breakfast and now its time for a swim. The beach is less than impressive (sorry Thailand but The Bahamas has the best beaches of all time!) After a 15 minute walk past the sea moss, pink tourist and jet skis I finally come to a clearing perfect for this Island girl to settle, get my locs wet and enjoy the sun.

I spent the entire day in my natural habitat. However with the sun now hiding behind the mountain side I can head to my hotel, shower, change and hit the strip for a night out. There are countless bars and clubs on Patong beach that play a diverse set of music. You’ll have no problem finding the right fit with cheap drinks. I spend time drinking, playing games with the bar tenders, and enjoying the ambiance. After about two hours I head back to my hotel, get ready for bed and I’m knocked for the night.
