CONVERSATIONS WITH MYSELF #3: What are your good habits? What are your bad habits?
Before answering I had to honestly look up the definition of "habit".
I don't have many good habits. Don't get me wrong that isn't because I don't have the desire to but rather because I've lacked the discipline to follow though with developing such. But the first step is realization right? So with that being said here are a few things Im either in the process of making into a habit or want to eventually become a habit.
1) Morning work out routine- exercise has been taught to help and filter the body and soul. A few years ago I was big on going to gym or doing yoga but eventually I fell off. Now is the time to get back into it. Starting my day off with a clear mind and pumped body could do me good.
2)Daily devotions- No I'm not the most religious person in the world...in fact I'm not religious at all, but I do hold firm on my belief in God and the universe. For that I want to return to praying and meditating daily. This not only will give me more drive and focus but also increase my faith.
3)Healthy sleep pattern- Sleep is good for the mind. When your sleep pattern varies it can throw your focus and your physical energy off. This may be a bit hard for me working a 9-5 with no set schedule but making sure I get in about 7-8 hours of sleep is necessary.
4) Writing/ Creating EVERYDAY- One of my strengths is writing. It is the easiest way for me not only to communicate with others but to express myself. Of course I have many other outlets but the goal is to make sure that on a daily basis I'm creating something. Art has a way of allowing you to purge the bad and share the good.
Now for my bad habits
1) Snoozing my alarm- I snooze about 2-3 times every morning before making the decision to actually get out of bed. As of right now I have 19 different alarm options in my phone, this is a no no.
2) Social Media - I spend way too much time on social media. Constantly interacting on Twitter and Instagram, keeping up with the lives of others and not being productive enough in my own.
3) Procrastinating- Whewww chile, this is possibly the most self flustering habit I have. The lack of following through. Having the creativity to come up with amazing ideas but lacking the discipline and prolonging actually bringing them to life. To be honest if I fester on the thought too long I summon a great disappointment in myself.
These three major habits have either aided in decreasing my energy, distracting me from my goals or kept my progress as a creative at a stand still.
However NOW is the time for me to end the bad and encourage the good.
"A settled or regular tendency or practice especially one that is hard to give up"
